Ekom Malik is the Indian founder and head of Moringa What. Her inspiration was established in her time as a young adult in a model sustainable village of HIV orphaned children and grandparents in rural Kenya, where here she stumbled across the benefits of the Moringa tree. She then went on to research the drought resistant plant and launched her first beauty product in 2015. The single ingredient cold-pressed Moringa oil for both skin and hair. Now, Moringa What and Ekom work with a collective of farmers and growers in the foothills of Darjeeling, which Ekom calls home. Alongside this, her partner farm in Tamil Nadu, working with only indigenous local varieties of the Moringa Tree, Ekom is able to sustainably produce India’s superfood in a non-toxic, natural and cruelty free way.
